Welcome to Cedar Ridge High School DECA and thank you for visiting our website. DECA helps students develop skills for successful business careers, build self–esteem, experience leadership, and practice community service. DECA members create friendships with like–minded people globally at career and leadership conferences and build resumes that move them to the top of the job and college application list. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools (and colleges) around the globe.
By providing students with hands-on experiences in the fields of marketing, management and entrepreneurship – DECA enhances the classroom by providing opportunities for members to attend conferences, competition and leadership training. The experience provided by DECA builds character that will be utilized in all aspects of life and is unlike to any other business experience.
History
The Cedar RIdge High School DECA Chapter was founded in 2011 by Kasey Misner, and is now currently advised by Mrs. Sara Pariott and Ms. Lisa Pfluger. Cedar Ridge DECA students have proved to be competitive on the district, state and international levels, with several advancing and finaling at ICDC, and placing overall in the world. For the upcoming 2019-20 school year, we have high hopes that all of our students will do extraordinary things!
Overview of the Year
The Fall Semester will be filled with chapter meetings and socials. Chapter meetings will discuss the competitive events and making sure each student is prepared to compete the following semester. There will also be fundraisers that we do both in the Spring and Fall to raise money for Cedar Ridge DECA to send extra people to ICDC. In January, the Districts competition will occur where all of our competitors will compete and see who will advance to State. Those who advance will continue studying and in February, the State Career Development Conference will occur in Fort Worth where all Texas DECA students compete to see who will be attending ICDC. Those that advance will continue their studying and in April/ May, the International Career Development Conference will occur in Nashville, Tennessee. DECA members from across the globe will be there competing to see who is the top in the world! Along with the busy spring semester, there will be fun socials and events where we all get together to have fun. At the end of the year, we will have our banquet where we reminisce on the past year!
